Welcome to Lethbridge Electrology.

We all want to feel good about our appearance but sometimes it is difficult to be positive when we know there are areas we would like to change if we could. If excess hair is one problem area you would like to eliminate, electrolysis can help you do just that. This procedure will eliminate your unwanted hair and in the process, give you a new self confidence. Electrolysis can definitely change your life in a positive way!

An Electrolysis treatment is the inserting of a sterile probe, the same size as the hair, into the hair follicle opening down to ther dermal papilla. The dermal papilla is the electrologists target. This is the part of the follicle that contains blood, nerves and, feeds the growing hair. If the papilla and the regenerative cells surrounding the follicle are destroyed the hair will die. When the probe is in place a low level electrical current is applied that will destroy the papilla and surrounding cells and loosen the hair follicle. The hair is then removed.

There are 3 modes of Electrolysis; Galvanic, which is the oldest, is a chemical method that utilizes a direct current to convert normal body salt and water in the follicle into a compound capable of destroying the dermal papilla. This chemical is produced only in the follicle and will not affect surrounding or outer areas. Thermolysis, is a method that uses a high frequency current to produce heat in the area influenced by the current., This heat cauterizes and destroys the dermal papilla. Two variations of Thermolysis is 'Flash', which uses a split second impulse of current and 'Manual', which requires several seconds at a lower intensity to acheive permanency. Blend method combines both currents together in the same probe. Thermolysis enhances the action of the galvanic method to produce a faster process.

Discomfort during Electrolysis is quite variable depending on each individual's tolerance, machine settings and modality used. During most treatments, there is a definite sensation. This sensation is described as 'slight heat, tingling or, stinging'. For extremely sensitive areas Lethbridge Electrology offers a topical anaesthetic for an additional cost.

Some causes of unwanted hair growth are heredity, medications, normal and abnormal systemic changes within the body, stress and eating disorders and some temporary hair removal methods.

The length of time for permanent hair removal is different for each individual and depends on the amount of hair, its coarseness, the cause of the excess hair. A series of treatments over a period time is mandatory for effective hair removal, once the dermal papilla has been eliminated the hair will not re grow. When deciding if Electrolysis is right for you it is very important to remember not only do you need a competent electrologist you will also require the determination and dedication. To ensure successful treatments you should be well hydrated, eating a healthy diet and, booking your appointments during the Anagen stage of growth (new, just starting to poke through the skin).

Lethbridge Electrology uses leading edge epilation technology, high standards of infection control and sterilization to bring safe permanent hair removal services to the public. Lethbridge Electrology offers permanent hair removal using 3 methods, Thermolysis (IE. Heat destruction), Galvanic (IE.chemical) and, Blend (IE.uses both Galvanic and Thermolysis). The methods described above (electrolysis) is still the only proven method of producing permanent hair removal, it is safe and essentially free of side effects. In addition Lethbridge Electrology will offer treatment of over active glands (IE. Pimples), removal of skin tags, and Microdermabrasion.
